19th c. Original Paul Gavarni Sketch

Paul Gavarni (1804–1866) was a French illustrator celebrated for his nuanced depictions of Parisian life in the 19th century. Gavarni became a household name during his time sketching for “La Charivari”, a Parisian magazine, as well as other books and publications.

His work has been displayed in major institutions including the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris, British Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
